For the research the EMN conducts, EMN Netherlands works closely with migration professionals. With the research results, EMN Netherlands supports policymakers in developing evidence-based migration and asylum policies.

The EMN Studies are comprehensive studies on migration and asylum topics, in which generally all EU Member States participate. Every year, three to four topics are covered, which are determined jointly by the Member States and the European Commission (EC). The research results per Member State come together in a synthesis report, with an analysis and overview of the policy of the various Member States. In addition, the national contact points in the Member States also publish the contributions to a synthesis report in their own national reports. The Benchmarks of EMN Netherlands compare Dutch policies with those of other Member States. The benchmarks are based on the synthesis reports.

Ad-Hoc Queries are small surveys initiated by the EC or an EU Member State. Ad-hoc queries occur throughout the year, up to 120 per year. In principle, all Member States contribute. Select ad-hoc queries below to see the queries initiated by EMN Netherlands (with short explanation), or click on the 'Ad-hoc database' button for the ad-hoc queries of all Member States.

EMN Informs provide an overview on a particular migration or asylum topic. They may be a summary of multiple ad-hoc queries, or a stand-alone study initiated by a Member State in which a number of Member States participate.
