Albania joins the European Migration Network as an observer country

The European Migration Network (EMN) has a new member. On 24 June, Andi Mahila, Deputy Minister of the Interior of Albania, and Olivier Onidi, Deputy Director-General of the Directorate-General for Migration and Home Affairs (DG HOME) at the European Commission, signed Albania's accession to the EMN. The new cooperation will focus on the exchange of knowledge and experience on migration and asylum.

Albania is the ninth observer country of the EMN, following Armenia, Georgia, Moldova, Montenegro, North Macedonia, Norway, Ukraine and Serbia. As an observer, Albania will contribute to EMN studies and meetings. The EMN uses the results of its studies to inform policymakers in EU Member States and the European Commission about migration policy in the EU Member States and the EMN observer countries.

The EMN welcomes Albania and looks forward to a successful cooperation.
