Background and scope
- Migration and development are interconnected. In this study, the EMN uses the following definition of the ‘migration–development nexus’: the full set of mechanisms through which migration and development dynamics influence one another.
- At European and international level, attention to this mutual interaction is increasing, but an overview of (the implementation of) national policy measures and initiatives in this field had largely been lacking.
- The study addresses national strategies and policy frameworks, as well as specific programmes or initiatives that have been implemented and/or funded within the framework of bilateral or multilateral cooperation.
- All initiatives mentioned in the study were ongoing or completed between 2019 and 2023.
