The EMN Netherlands website must be accessible to everyone. This means that everyone should be able to use it, including people with reduced vision, or, for example, have difficulty reading. The website must also function properly in all web browsers and be accessible through search engines, and on all devices (such as mobile phones and laptops).
Website accessibility requirements
An accessible website complies with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2, the international standard for accessibility. In the Netherlands, all government websites are required to comply with these guidelines. This is laid down in the Digital Government Act/Wet digitale overheid (page in Dutch) which entered into force in July 2023.
In the summer of 2025, EMN Netherlands commissioned an external agency to examine how the accessibility of our website could be improved. We will implement the recommendations from the report at the end of 2026, when our new website goes live. The website currently has accessibility status B.
